Is my ford focus safe using high milage full synthetic oil?

So i own a 2005 ford focus zx4 se and i recently changed my oil. My vehicle has roughly 170,000 miles on it and it calls for 5/20 but i noticed that it would be low on oil from most likely evaporation brcause my car doesn't have a leak. So i used 5/30 mobil 1 high milage full synthetic. I noticed that its filled a lil more than the max on the dipstick, it reaches up to where there's a curved dent in the dipstick if you know what i'm talking about. But is that oil ok for my car and is it bad that its overfilled? I only poured an entire 5 quart jug which is how much my car is suppose to take to my knowledge. Any help is appreciated!

The oil is a thicker viscosity, but it's okay if it leaks and it's for a higher mileage engine. I would NOT recommend filling it up past the full line because it can seep into your spark plugs and flood them, and that will end up making your car preform awfully.

Read your owners manual

Thicker weight for higher mileage is good. Over filling is bad, but less than half a quart over filled is ok.
Depending on engine, it takes 4 to 4.5 quarts. Do not put in 5 quarts in the future.

Yes. Safe.

5W-30 is NOT recommended. Anybody who says it is, doesn't understand how variable valve timing works. Using a heavier viscosity can screw up that mechanism and set a check engine light. Go back to 5W-20. Read article below. And overfilling if very bad. Crankshaft whips air into it and causes foam. Foam doesn't cool and can cause damage

  • What kind of Synthetic Oil does Ford use? GM recommends Dexos in all newer GM s. Does Ford have a specialty oil that they recommend/prefer? Especially something that won't void a warranty
  • Is the oil for a 2013 Ford Fusion synthetic only? Just went to Pep Boys and wanted a conventional oil change on my car, which takes 5W-20. Apparently their records state that they "can only legally put in synthetic oil" since it's what the manufacturer recommends. The last time I was here they did it with normal oil, no problem. Did I just get screwed?
  • What type of full synthetic oil to put in 2005 ford focus? I have a 2005 ford focus ST zx4 and need to add oil, this is the first time adding oil since I bought the car. All I know is that the previous owner used full synthetic. I have to add just about a quarter of oil until an oil change in a few weeks. I have heard that full synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40 is good but no lower than 5w-30 or I can take the chance of blowing up my car… Any thoughts on this?
  • Is it safe to tow using a 2013 ford focus? I will be driving across the country with a small trailer that will be filled with a bed, bed frame, and some boxes and I'm wondering if it is safe to use my 2013 Ford Focus SE (I still would have to get a hitch for it.)
