What type of full synthetic oil to put in 2005 ford focus?
I have a 2005 ford focus ST zx4 and need to add oil, this is the first time adding oil since I bought the car. All I know is that the previous owner used full synthetic. I have to add just about a quarter of oil until an oil change in a few weeks. I have heard that full synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40 is good but no lower than 5w-30 or I can take the chance of blowing up my car… Any thoughts on this?
Why not just change the oil now. Read the owners manual for viscosity for your vehicle. If not now then just pick ant full synthetic oil and add, better than running out or running low.
5W-20 is the correct weight for that car. 5W-30 would be okay, I would not use 5W-40, it's going to be twice as thick at temperature than the spec'd 5W-20 oil.
- What kind of Synthetic Oil does Ford use? GM recommends Dexos in all newer GM s. Does Ford have a specialty oil that they recommend/prefer? Especially something that won't void a warranty
- Is the oil for a 2013 Ford Fusion synthetic only? Just went to Pep Boys and wanted a conventional oil change on my car, which takes 5W-20. Apparently their records state that they "can only legally put in synthetic oil" since it's what the manufacturer recommends. The last time I was here they did it with normal oil, no problem. Did I just get screwed?
- 2005 VW Golf 1.6 or 2005 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 2005? First car for a 17 year old who has just passed his licence. Both cost similar amounts for purchase and for insurance.
- Can I use synthetic oil on my truck? I drive a 2003 ford f 150 4.6 engine and it's time get an oil change.is it ok if I use the synthetic oil instead of high mileage one it take 5 20 and it has a 169000 miles on it
