How much compensation will I receive for being read-ended?

It was a minor accident in which my bumper of my car has been destroyed. My daughter (2.5 years old) and I experienced minor whiplash. I missed 1 week of work due to having a sore neck in which I get approximately $1500 per week. I saw a doctor for the neck pain and was given painkillers and muscle relaxers to ease the soreness. I don't have pain anymore, but do not know the long term effects of this type of injury. The insurance company of the driver called and told me they will make a settlement offer once the car is inspected. Based on this information… How much should I expect to be paid? The car damage is only the back bumper of a ford focus which is caved in.

What you have is whiplash, a sprain/strain of the neck/back and is expected and common after being rear ended. Whiplash will resolve itself with or without treatment usually in 6 weeks and NO long term effects.

In an injury settlement, they will reimburse you for the doctor bill and your RX. Granted with muscle relaxers and pain pills can't work, but, unlikely you would need for a week, but most likely a few days. Unless your doctor wrote you was unable to work for an entire week, then my guess they will consider about 2/3 days of lost wages. Your $1,500 is gross pay, not your net pay, so any reimbursement of wages will be paid based on your net, not gross. Then they will add "some" pain/suffering money on top of that.

They will pay you for your car damages and a rental car while your car is in the shop for repairs.

You did not hit the lottery, so my guess you will get anywhere from $500 to $1,000 max on top of the DR, RX, wages. If, both you and your daughter was injured, then each of you will have a separate injury settlement based on EACH injury.

Compensation for your time out of work and they'll make an offer equivalent to double your medical bills.

Do you have a doctors note to be off work for that long?
Were you paid during that time?

Don't expect any big pay day.
If you don't have a doctors note requiring you to be off work, there may be no money coming.
