My Ford Focus from 2002,1.8tdci variant's alternator won't charge?

The problem started today, when I was about to start the car up, it didn't start! I pushed it and the car finnaly started, It worked normally until I reached home, I manually charged the battery. Now it's starting up but it doesn't charge. The charging battery light is on. What can I do to fix it?

Run the tests… Do the system prechecks like keith said. You may want to remove it and get it tested at the parts store. Bring your battery too. If its got full electrolyte and been charged, a simple load test takes just a minute. If you can change brushes there's often a repair kit at napa that you might be able to put in yourself… Ask

It needs an alternator. If the lights on.definitely alternator. But check first to see if alternator belt is on there. Check for loose connections at alternator and battery cables also.
