Car won't crank with a new battery and alternator it has no electrical power what could the problem be?
I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT that has been running for months when I tried starting it earlier today it would click once then nothing. Now it has no electrical power at all.

Try cleaning and tightening the battery terminals.

Try cleaning the battery connectors. Sometimes they get so messed up that the connection is broken under the so-called clamped connector. You have to take the connector off of the battery and clean both the battery post and the inside of the connector with a battery cleaning tool.
If your Terminals are good, check the Ground wire where it bolts to the engine or transmission. It needs to be Clean, Dry and Tight.
When was the new battery and alternator put in?
If the battery is fully charged and it still won't crank, inspect the larger fuses in the engine compartment fuse box which are called fusible links. One may be blown and it can keep the vehicle from starting.
If charging the battery gets it to start and run go to an auto parts store right away and they will test the battery and charging system for you for free.
It wouldn't be the first time a rebuilt alternator went bad.
You shouldn't have left it running for months - motor probably overheated and seized.
- New alternator and battery but battery still won't charge in my ford explorer 93? My battery wouldnt charge So i just replaced my alternator a few days ago knowing it would fix the problem. It appears that the alternator was not the problem. I've got a brand new alternor and when i check the battery(running car), it just stays on 12.5V and doesn't go up. I tried using it yesterday and it just drained out on me. I tried 3 good batteries already and checked if they charge in my car but they don't. Oh, the alternator came with a volt regulator.
