Having car issues. Any ideas of what it might be?

For almost the last month I've noticed my car (2002 Ford Focus) has been making an odd grinding sound on the right front side. I had the wheel bearings changed about two months ago on both sides.

I've noticed the last week or so though, that, that grinding sound has moved towards the middle of the car in the front. I notice when I drive straight, accelerate, and reverse when the wheel is turned towards the right.

Today was the first time I heard this really loud humming sound coming from up front while I was parked. I recently have the oil and oil filter changed. But I have also noticed by MPG have dropped as well.

I know it's hard to determine what it might be by just words; but would anyone have any idea of what it could be?

In addition, with this grinding sound, there's also a sizzling/popping sound. Like of like when fry oil.

Valve tick? Bad cv joint?

Take the car to a mechanic as soon as possible. Humming and grinding noises are very bad and will lead to catastrophic mechanical failures. A mechanic can really only tell what is going on by listening to the noise himself.

  • My '06 Ford Taurus is having what i'm assuming transmission problems, any ideas? The other day while attempting to back up a small slope, my engine revved up and a message came on the info area of my dash saying to check the transmission. I turned off the car, turned it on and the check engine light was on. I go home and check the trans fluid and it's full. The next day I start my car and the check engine light is off, but now my car shakes on heavy acceleration and gear changes. I'm not a car person. Any ideas?
  • Having issues on troubleshooting my wife's 2000 Ford Contour SE V6 2.5 DOHC? After driving for about 3-4 miles it starts to jerk and loose power. Almost as if someone is hitting you from the back. It's not throwing any codes or making the check engine light come on so that tells me it can't be major. I hope. I have changed the fuel filter, added Techron concentrated fuel treatment, changed the (CPS) camshaft position sensor, changed the oil and filter. I also replaced the air filter and cleaned the MAP sensor. What else can it be? Someone please help.
  • I'm having issues with my 2012 ford focus heater? I'm running my heater for over 20 minutes on my way to school and by the end of my drive one of my 4 vents is blowing luke warm air, the other 3 are blowing cold like the A/C. In March or April i had my radiator replaced and my coolant was flushed. I read that the hot coolant is what heats up something to blow the hot air? Also read that when the coolant is flushed it may clog something up which stops it from blowing hot air.
