Having issues on troubleshooting my wife's 2000 Ford Contour SE V6 2.5 DOHC?

After driving for about 3-4 miles it starts to jerk and loose power. Almost as if someone is hitting you from the back. It's not throwing any codes or making the check engine light come on so that tells me it can't be major. I hope. I have changed the fuel filter, added Techron concentrated fuel treatment, changed the (CPS) camshaft position sensor, changed the oil and filter. I also replaced the air filter and cleaned the MAP sensor. What else can it be? Someone please help.

If you want to keep on trying to diagnose this yourself try unplugging the MAF sensor and then start the motor and drive it while unplugged. There's a base program in the PCM that will run the motor. If you don't get the lack of power it may be that the MAF sensor is starting to fail. You will cause it to throw a MAF sensor code so you'll need to erase the code when reconnecting the MAF sensor. There are many other things that can cause a lack of power. You need a mechanics scan tool to read the engine data to make sure all the sensor voltages are with in spec. Code readers can't read engine data.

Since you have no codes and it happens about the time the engine switches into closed loop I'd say it could be as simple as needing the EGR valve cleaned maybe plugs if they haven't been done in a long time.

I had the exact same problem on my 2000 last winter. Took me weeks to finally find it. Because it was so intermittent. It was the coil wire! Lol

Ben_Gazzi. Are you serious? I will defiantly change the coil wire as this very easy and cheap. Thebax2006 & J J. Thanks. This all helps a great deal. Will choose best answer after I check the following. Coil Wire. MAP sensor and EGR valve.
