Ford focus tramsmission cylinoid 1 bad. 145k should I fix?

Transmission cylinoid 1 bad. Shop said need to fix 1 and 2. Also said drive 1 not working. Said no guarantee it'll fix problem 50/50 might need whole tranny. Ford focus 145k. Just dumped $500 in last 3 mos now this!

I have money into it and can't afford to buy another car right now but also don't want t to dump $400 and have it still not drive right.

Why can't they know for sure if it'll be fixed. They read the computer code and teat drove it.

Should I fix it?

They are thinking that the two solenoids are the same age and while they are in there with the pan dropped. Do both. You can insist on just one. The solenoid is not moving and most times it is the solenoid electric that is out. But it could be the valve it is moving is stuck. Or the power to the sol. Is compromised. Won't know til they swap the sol.

Go to the Auto Parts Store and have them read the codes. Buy the solenoids needed and have your favorite shade tree mechanic replace them. Very easy to replace.

Check eBay for a good price. Get the kit with the Filter, Gasket, and Solenoids.

  • Valve job on a 98 ford ranger 145k miles? So i took my truck to my mechanic and he said there was a miss fire in cylinder 4 he tried to see if it the plugs and coils and what not but he then said I needed a valve job and it would be $2500 is that a reasonable price? What should I do? Any advice?
