Ford Focus - Do you know anyone who owns this Particular Ford Focus?

Do you know anyone who owns the 2011- Ford Focus 1.6 ti-vct (petrol) 105bhp version? I own this car and find that it's performance on hills is poor even allowing that it is 100kg heavier than the 1998-2004 Ford Focus. E.g. On a hill in 3rd gear with the engine at 1500-2000rpm it can struggle even when my foot is 3/4 down on the accelerator pedal. Has anyone else had this trouble or heard about it with this model?

105 break horse power is very very low… For any car regardless of how light it is. And 1200 kilo curb weight is NOT light! Add a driver, a passenger and some stuff and the gross vehicle weight can balloon to a whopping 1600kg against 105hp! Your power to weight ratio is undesirable. Most of your horsepower is being used to propel the weight of the car, which leaves little hp left for things like acceleration and climbing. Each hp is pushing approximately 15kg.
This car is hugely under-powered for its weight. It just is. There's nothing to be done about it except buying a different car with more horsepower.

Also, 2000 RPM is definitely NOT high enough to create adequate torque for a car of this power and size to climb a hill. You should down shift until you are in the optimum power band - which is likely somewhere between 3500 and 4500 RPM, or even higher.

I have a 99 Mazda MX5 at 140bhp / 1040kg with each hp pushing only 8kg gross weight and I STILL have to down shift to get up steep hills. For me, peak torque is near 4000rpm. Since you are weaker and heavier you are going to have to downshift further into higher rpm to create enough torque for hills and or adequate acceleration. Try second gear.

Best Wishes

No hp and low rpm's going uphill? I don't know what you expect.

At 1500 - 2000 rpm it's below peak torque figure, let alone peak power. Change down!
