Ford Focus 2000 gas mileage?

About 3 days ago I got a 2000 Ford Focus. Runs amazing! Such a smooth driver and is a really great car. I have driver her around a few times a day and I almost have a half tank of gas when she was almost full. Me and my mom wen there and got the car and the lady who was selling it I knew, I used to be on the cheer team with her daughter and her husband is a mechanic and I know she wouldn't lie to me. She told me my car got 57 miles to the gallon. My mom believes her, and so does my boyfriend. I told my friend about it and she's like "uhh I don't think so, I doubt that" so I googled it and google told me 30 miles to the gallon! That's how much my moms HUGE SUV gets. And my car is so light and little. Is 57 miles to the gallon fake? Like is that impossible? The friend I told this to was going to buy this car but
I got to it first so It could be out of jealousy but that's childish. Anybody good with cars?

I doubt any two liter Focus got 57 miles per gallon. Thirty to forty is possible on long trips.

A huge SUV will not get 30 mpg. More like 15. Measure a few tank fills and you will see.

I have heard allot of people selling cars make outrageous claims on the mpg of the car they are selling but this one is the most outrageous. Yes, that is impossible and the woman lied plain a simple. No way is a 2000 Ford Focus going to get even close to 57 mpg. The very best it will actually get on the highway with one passenger and no luggage is 35 mpg. Expect around 26 mpg in the city and combined driving you can expect around 30 mpg. You may not even get that much on a car with high mileage that is 14 years old. Your Mom and boyfriend are very gullible to even believe such an obvious lie. If Ford had been able to get 57 mpg on a car built 14 years ago they would have sold more than they could have produced and would have people lined up at dealership to purchase the Focus. A brand new 2014 Ford Focus will not even come close to 57 mpg. Common sense tells you that the seller of the car was lying from the start. Ask yourself what else did she lie about.

  • My truck gets 23mpg, is this good or bad gas mileage? My daily driver is a 2003 Ford Ranger single cab, great truck and al for mel. It's a 4 banger, and I recently decided to calculate and find out how many miles per gallon it gets and it came out tp 23 miles per gallon, and I rarely drive on the interstate either. If that matters. Is my truck good on gas or is it a guzzler in your opinion?
  • 2000 V6 ford mustang bad gas mileage? So my Ford Mustang its eating away gas kinda fast for my understanding, i do around 6.5 miles to work and the same back to the house but for some reason its going kind of fast. To put it into perspective i filled up my tank last night and it has gone through a quarter of the tank in less than a day, my calculations is that it'll be by half of tank tomorrow. So for those car experts out there can you give me a suggestion about what could the problem be?
