Central locking failed can't open drivers door?

I have a Ford Focus 1999 and the central locking has failed to the point where the drivers door is permanently locked and can't be opened even with the key. I've changed the fuse (thanks ford for making it the only fuse at the rear of the fuse box) but this has not worked. I'm having to enter the car via the passenger door and climb over! Is there a way to reset the central locking or does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

If the key won't open it then it's a fault with the lock mechanism and not with the central locking system.

If the key turns in the cylinder but does nothing then it's likely that an actuating rod to the lock itself has broken free.

If so then fixing it is a pig because the internal trim to the door has to come off (also called the door card) and that is very difficult when the door is closed. Sometimes the driving seat needs to be removed to gain access, but that also can be impossible without removing the passengersest and the centre console.

The labour charges for all that build up so fast that it is often cheaper to cut the door skin away from the outside and to then replace the entire door with a salvaged one or to get the removed skin welded back and the door repaired.

It's a lot of cost and effort for what often turns out to be a broken or dislodged tiny bit if metal or plastic called swing-keeper which costs a few pennies.

If the key doesn't turn, try WD40 in the keyhole.

Ask your local Ford dealership.

Lock has failed closed and needs to be replaced. See a mechanic.

You will get nowhere until the interior of the door is accessed to get at and replace faulty components - unfortunately this will damage the door facings

If the key turns in the door lock but the door will still not open the door lock mechanism is likely broken… Not the keyless entry.

I had the same problem, most likely the spring on the door latch broke. I removed the door panel to get to the back of the latch, there's a little lever and hold it up and try the key, if it works put a spring on it to keep it up. Worked for me.

I'm having problems with the driver door on my Volkswagen Golf. When I use the fob or key to open the car all the doors open except the drivers door. When I lock the car all the doors lock and the drivers door stays locked. At first the drivers door would open sometimes but now it's locked all the time.
