Car vibration on acceleration?
I have a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 2007 and whole car vibrates while acceleration at certain speeds say above 40mph. Car coasts fine so issue is only when gear is engaged and on acceleration.
I took the car to few garages they came with different things like Fuel filter, Injectors, Dual mass flywheel + clutch, Driveshaft in no particular order.
Sadly, all these repairs would exceed the value of car so need some expert advice.
I'm relying on you guys, thanks in advance.
Added (1). Update:
Bushes look worn out however this should make car vibrate all the time.
New engine mount
Drop link is good
Front wheels spins fine
Drive shaft doesn't make any noise when slightly moved using an iron bar.
Gears move freely
Clutch is smooth and no grinding noise, clicking sounds
2 injectors leaking however injector specialist confirm that should cause vibration
Car has power and I can drive through this shake/vibration.
Added (2). No engine management lights
Injector specialist confirmed issue not due to injectors.
Added (3). No engine management lights
Injector specialist confirmed the issue is not due to injectors.
On front wheel drive cars worn inner CV joints are a common cause vibration under acceleration. Worn out coil bushings, McPherson struts and shock absorbers can also be the cause of vibration as the car accelerates. Worn out upper strut bearings are also a common cause of vibration. Beyond that, worn engine mounts can cause a vibration if the engine runs even a little rough. Even unbalanced tires or slightly bent wheel rims can cause harmonic vibrations at certain speeds, but it would also occur at other times than acceleration.
UPDATE: Maybe it's a transmission issue but other than that I can't think of anything else.
Motor mounts
If it is just when you take off, it might be a motor mount.
Replace the fuel filter and clean the injectors. See a mechanic with a scan tool and check for misfiring data. If the tires are fairly old and hard, replace the tires and get the wheels balanced and get an alignment.
Piss
Sorry, I can't guess from the very tiny amount of information that you have provided.
I'd need to drive the car.
I had shattering on dual mass flywheel I replaced flywheel to single mass flywheel and came out perfect
If the vibration comes on at a certain speed, and you can 'drive through it', I would suggest you get your wheels balanced.
I suspect a CV joint is worn to the point that it causes the problem. If it suddenly goes away when letting of the gas pedal, then it is either a CV joint or an engine miss fire. If you can't make the engine miss fire while setting still with the brake on and in gear and accelerating, then it is definitely a worn CV joint or a worn trunion which is the joint on the other end of the half shaft opposite the CV joint. The trunion can also cause vibration. Always replace both half shaft joint assemblies when replacing a bad one. And you can buy re-manufactured half shaft assemblies a lot cheaper than new ones. Just go to an auto parts store near you.
- Why does my car pull to the right under acceleration? It goes straight when not accelerating, but if you hit the gas from a stop, it pulls to the right pretty hard, it has 92k miles, ford windstar, aligned at 77k miles… What could be the problem?
- Vibration/thumping in front suspension. More than likely.drivers front 2002 Ford Sport Trac Vibration/thumping. More speed, the more it vibrates, shakes, and makes the thump thump thump sound. Passenger side mirror shows no sign of movement… Drivers side mirror shakes quite a bit. No noticeable noises other than the thumping. No hard pulling to either side in steering wheel. No difference when braking. Any input would be very much appreciated!
- What car is cheap and can be modified to be really fast in speed and acceleration? I have a Ford Taurus and I feel like as if it lacks speed and acceleration. Also which modifications can increase the speed of the car and acceleration of it without removing any weight?
- How to increase the speed and acceleration of my car? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus V6 3.0L. What modifications can I make, if any, to increase speed and acceleration. Also what kind of tires are better for cities in hot areas such as Phoenix, Az that don't slide easily when braking?
