2002 Ford Focus won't start after driving on the highway for 15 minutes?

I have a 2002 Ford Focus LX with about 130,000 miles on it. If I drive it on the highway for about 15 minutes, when I finally turn the car off, it won't start back up unless I get a jump or if I let it sit for about 2 hours. I've gotten a new alternator a new battery and new battery terminals (old ones were corroded). Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my car, I'm tired of wasting money on things that don't need to be fixed.

I had the same problem with a 88 cadillac sedan. Check your ignition coil. When the engine is cold, it will usually start right? Well when it's hot after 15 minutes of driving, the spark intensity decreases with heat. (from the coil). When you shut it off, its still hot and won't restart till it cools back down. But if you jump it, its just enough extra spark to start it. These r same symptoms i had many years ago. I may be wrong but it worked for me.

  • Why won't my car start after shutting down on highway? My car shut down while driving on the highway. I tried to turn it back on but it won't start. It cranks but won't start. The battery is fine. The fuel pump is fine. I think the distributor cap isn't getting power. Can it be the ignition module? Its a 1994 ford tempo lx with 70k miles on it.
  • Why my doge chrisler sibrin 99 drive for 15 minutes and then shots off but starts after a it gets cold? • My car won't start until I've waited a few minutes? I have a Ford Taurus SES and this morning I tried to start it and couldn't. I tried 3 times but it wouldn't work, the engine turned but wouldn't start. After waiting 2-3 minutes it started like normal. My battery is pretty new and is reading steadily at 13.8 volts. I don't see any problems with the connections either, no corrosion, everything looks like it's in good shape. Any thoughts?
  • Car shakes still? My 94 Ford Taurus shakes on the highway. 65-80 mph and after 80 it stops? I've gotten new tie rods, a realignment, new breaks, and resurfaced rotors, and it still happens to shake even though the mechanic said that the problem was the rotors being warped. Before I spend more money on the damned thing I was wondering if anyone here had some insight to why it's still shaking on the highway. One thing I've noticed is that when I accelerate a chirping sound ensues and chirps faster as I go faster? Any ideas? Please?
