How long to fix a recalled vehicle?

We have a 2012 Ford Fiesta, which recently got recalled for the transmission. Before the recall, the transmission went completely out and we did not have the money to fix it. Finally we got the go ahead to take it back to the ford dealership to fix it. It has been a month since then. I call every week, and they just keep saying they are waiting on the parts. I know sometimes it takes a while to get the parts in, but should it be taking THIS long? We have been driving with one vehicle, and it has been a hardship on us since we still have to make payments on this car as well. Does anyone have any advice on how long it typically takes, or should I try and contact the Ford company?

That's a long time, but if they're fixing thousands or more nationwide, there could be a serious backlog of parts. I'd be a little more pro-active about it. Maybe even get a lawyer and threaten to sue either the dealer or Ford for loss of use of your vehicle. That is not a frivolous claim.

Ford had my friends recall for 5 months. Make them give you a rental. Or get your payment back. Grow a pair and stand up for yourself.

  • Is a face lift for a vehicle a new generation for a vehicle? I heard that in 1989 Ford Ranger received a facelift but was a new generation or just a minor update that did not change the complete model of the vehicle?
  • My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
  • My car just got recalled. What do I do? Hi. I drive a 2013 Ford Focus with an automatic 6-speed transmission. I purchased the car in February. Since then, I've noticed the transmission slip when the automatic switches gears. I kind of got used to since. Just a week or so ago, I saw online that there's a recall out for my specific car. The recall is for "contamination in transmission fluid". What do I do now?
  • How long should transmission swap take on 2001 ford focus wagon? I have a 2001 focus wagon that the transmission suddenly lost reverse after being towed… Anyhow i've bought a parts car for it and have been quoted for doing the transmission swap from the parts car… How many hours should something like that take? What would a fair price be from a common autoshop mechanic for labour only? Please and thank you!
