Ford Fiesta or Jaguar X Type?

I currently drive a 3dr 2012 Ford Fiesta but have a baby due very and i'm thinking that the fiesta may not be very practical in terms of size and only having 3 doors.

I have always fancied a jaguar so I've been browsing around and found that you can get 04/05 x type jags, with 30 - 40,000 miles for about £4,000.

So my question is, would it be a wise move to sell my current car for a jag, which i think could be more practical and more of a prestige car?

Might want to stay with the Fiesta?
It is true the baby carrier will be a little more effort in having to slide the front seat forward each time you take the carrier in and out, but is worth it.
A 4 door risks the back door coming open by accident or something.
And you have to remember that Ford bought Jaguar back then, so there were some Jaguars that were not really prestige cars, but just expensive to maintain.
Here is a review:
{ … Alas, the Jaguar X-Type's engineering underneath wasn't as newsworthy. The basic steel structure of the car and many of its drivetrain and suspension components were shared with the Ford Mondeo, a regular family sedan sold in Europe. Though car companies with regular and upscale brands frequently cross-pollinate hardware, the X-Type's plebian roots were always too apparent. Even when it was fresh on the market, the compact Jag was hard-pressed to compete with most rivals in terms of both driving dynamics and cabin furnishings. Consequently, the X-Type was relegated to bottom-feeder status in a highly competitive segment full of younger, quicker cars until it was discontinued for 2008.

If you want a Jaguar on the cheap, the X-Type is the way to get into one -- but doesn't mean you should do it. It may be a pleasant enough daily companion for those fixated on "leaping" hood ornaments, but entry-luxury car shoppers with an eye for detail will be put off by its overall lack of refinement. The bottom line is that newer, better engineered competitors offer more value for the money. We recommend that you check them out first… }

The Fiesta will work if you don't mind sliding the seats all the time. If you want prestige, get a BMW or Mercedes. They are far more durable and better built than a Jaguar.

If prestige is the most important item to you, it would be an upgrade. If economical, reliable transportation is your primary goal it would be a big mistake. Jaguars are not rated very high on the reliability charts and are expensive to maintain and repair.

They are an honest enough car, based as they are on the Mondeo, but if you are looking for "prestige" go for a BMW or a Mercedes.
