Car ride bumpy between 45- 50 mph?

I bought a ford fiesta 2008 Ghia tdci diesel. The car drives fine up until around 45 mph. The ride gets bumpy and shaky. But the steering wheel is not shaking at all. Then after about 55mph the ride smooths out again and is fine as you increase the speed. The bumping is only really happening when I'm accelerating at these speeds. Once I take my foot off the gas pedal it stops. The car had had three new tyres. And the passenger side drivers shaft has been checked and it isn't the problem. Has anyone encountered this?

Sounds like your front axle bearings are on their way out

  • What causes problems starting a car and the engine to misfire going over 60 mph? This problem started about two months ago. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. So far no mechanic can figure out the problem. They have replaced all of the spark plugs (numerous times because they keep going bad), an engine coil, the crankshaft position sensor, the battery, did a tune-up, ran a $100 diagnostic test and still the problem occurs. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I forgot that they also did a coolant flush.
  • Car shakes still? My 94 Ford Taurus shakes on the highway. 65-80 mph and after 80 it stops? I've gotten new tie rods, a realignment, new breaks, and resurfaced rotors, and it still happens to shake even though the mechanic said that the problem was the rotors being warped. Before I spend more money on the damned thing I was wondering if anyone here had some insight to why it's still shaking on the highway. One thing I've noticed is that when I accelerate a chirping sound ensues and chirps faster as I go faster? Any ideas? Please?
  • Varying ride quality between different makes of cars? I own and drive a 2001 Ford Mustang GT. I frequently however get to drive a 2013 buick lacrosse. I also test drive many other different cars. What I've noticed is this. Fords seem to have a stiffer and bulky drive quality but not in a bad way it has its benefits. GM tends to have a loose smooth and easy feel to them not up tight like the ford. Chrysler has a ride quality thats a mix of the two others. What my question is is why are they so different between manufacturers?
  • Why does my Ford Focus shake when maintaining 70 mph? I've got a 2007 Ford Focus hatchback. My husband did an oil change on it about month ago. Since then there's a vibration. Everything feels fine until you go 70 mph. While trying to maintain the speed the whole car shakes. It feels like it is about to stall, but doesn't or at least, hasn't yet. The shaking stops when accelerating or decelerating. Its an automatic and the engine light pops on and off. It only happens while trying to maintain speed in the 69-71mph range.
