Would it be smart for me to buy another car?
I drive a fully paid, off nice Ford F-150. I can't decide if I want to down grade and get a smaller car because I don't have enough money to get the same truck I own now. I was thinking about buying a smaller car to save on gas then when I really want too I can drive my f150. I really really love my truck and don't want to let go of it because it is the most comfortable truck I have ever owned, never broken down, and has a ton of miles on it but I never will get back what I payed for it. I'm in a good financial positition to buy another car. I just can't decide if I should down grade to a smaller newer car or what. Just sometimes I really do not want to drive a small car and would love to drive my truck. Anyone think I should make the right choice and have 2 cars?
The average person drives 12,000 miles a year. At $3 a gallon every 10mpg better would save $600 a year. Say you get a 20mpg better car than your truck, $1200 saved. Lets say car payment and insurance is low at $300 a month; saving money on gas would cost you $2400 a year. 60mpg improvement required to break even. Get the actual numbers together and crunch them but they will say spending will not save you money. Just drive the truck
It depends what kind of job and lifestyle you have to see if you really need the truck. Also depends if you can afford another car with its monthly and insurance including your truck's insurance. Personally, since the fully paid, I'd keep it.
Whatever trolly
So how is buying and driving a small car going to save money over paying the higher cost of gas for the truck? The math doesn't make sense. It would take you years of reduced gas cost to make up for the purchase and maintenance cost of the small car. Don't make any sense whatsoever.
Personal decision
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, superior Ford Ranger? I owned a 2010 Toyota Camry and it broke down in 2011 upon reaching 0.6k miles. I treated it like a baby and it failed and disappointed me. My friend also owned a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and it failed to start in 2009 upon reaching 8k miles. And the mechanic said it was impossible to fix. However, my uncle has a 1965 Ford Falcon with over 750k miles on its clock and it still runs like new and he never even changed its oil since he bought it.
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, Chevrolet Colorado? Or even better and superior, Ford Ranger. My cousin is going to buy a pick-up truck next month and it would be a Toyota Hilux. How do I convince him that the Hilux is not reliable?
- If a car causes another car to swerve and spin-out, is it considered hit-and-run if they leave the scene? On the way to work this morning, I saw a Ford truck cut off a smaller car and the poor car spun out in the rain and ended up facing the opposite direction. This caused the traffic to stop because it looked like the vehicle wouldn't start. The ford truck most likely knew he did that but kept going, instead of stopping. He didn't hit the car or any cars at all during the time. If he didn't actually hit anything, is it still considered hit and run? Should he have stopped?
- I have a ford falcon ef 1995 model and I'm having problems with my smart lock? It won't flash on the dash and it don't recognise the remote key pad the interior lights won't turn on the motor turns over but it won't start I need help with this.
