Try 4.56 gears. And an AOD.
What you need is an AOD with 4R70W gear train. This gets you a 2.84 First gear instead of the 2.40 found in C4, C6's, and AOD's. The 4R70W is a computer controlled trans… BUT, by building it in an AOD case, the trans reverts to being controlled by a throttle valve cable. You'll need some type of 4R70W torque converter in there, tho.
The alternatives would be to get a higher stall speed converter for your C6, or get a high-stall converter and go with a C4 with the six-pinion gear Low upgrade.
I don't run this 4R70W setup in my 351C T-Bird because I've got a 9.5" converter w/4,000 RPM stall speed and it'll pull the 2.40 First gear.
AS for Bear suggestion of using a 350 Chevy, better upgrade the intermediate clutch sprag race as it will shatter, and then there's the $400 adapter you'd need.
That c6 couldn't win a soap box derby… Get a350 chevy
- Which Ford Racing cam is best for my 5.0? Building a 5.0 EFI, going cam, heads, throttle body, longtube headers and an o/r x pipe, Going to run nitrous but max 150 shot, out of the ford racing cams (b303, e303, etc.) Which would work best with my set up?
- What car should I start with for drag racing? I'm thinking about starting to drag race with a couple of friends. But at a track! Not on the street with the friends haha. I was wondering what car I should start with? Preferably American made, easy to work on, and hopefully a mopar car? If not ford or chevy will be fine. And also where should I look for one? And should I start from the ground up? Or get a finished one? And if so what parts should I get?
- Racing stripes that'd look good on an 02 Ford Taurus? I've got an 02 Ford Taurus with some scratches on the hood. I know it's a relatively old sedan so stripes would look weird, but I want to cover up the scrapes and whatnot. If anyone could link me to some sort of decal that they thing would look cool, and not make me look like a complete tool, that'd be awesome.
- Is it possible to fit a 347 ford racing engine into a 2004 Mustang? I'm Planning to purchase a 2004 Mustang and plan to put a new motor in it and was wondering if a 347 would fit?
