What car should I start with for drag racing?
I'm thinking about starting to drag race with a couple of friends. But at a track! Not on the street with the friends haha. I was wondering what car I should start with? Preferably American made, easy to work on, and hopefully a mopar car? If not ford or chevy will be fine. And also where should I look for one? And should I start from the ground up? Or get a finished one? And if so what parts should I get?
Any car will do. Drag racing is not about being the fastest, it's about being consistent. Small block Chevy's are the easiest to work on and the easiest to find parts for.
Its a money pit. Buy a Yugo and count your bucks…
Oh yeah MOPAR. STARTING OUT YOU KNOW GOING IN MOPAR WILL COST MORE TO BUILD BUT THEY DO LAST LONGER. I would look for a duster or dart from the 70's they are on the cheaper end of mopar bodies and a 440 will fit. You can build a low 7 second 1/8 mile car with a faily mild 440 shifting a 727 automatic at 4600 rpm. I run a 73 roadrunner over 4200 pounds at an 8.00 1/8 mile and have had it running with nothing but oil changes and tune ups for 8 years now, no broken parts
- Which Ford Racing cam is best for my 5.0? Building a 5.0 EFI, going cam, heads, throttle body, longtube headers and an o/r x pipe, Going to run nitrous but max 150 shot, out of the ford racing cams (b303, e303, etc.) Which would work best with my set up?
- Racing stripes that'd look good on an 02 Ford Taurus? I've got an 02 Ford Taurus with some scratches on the hood. I know it's a relatively old sedan so stripes would look weird, but I want to cover up the scrapes and whatnot. If anyone could link me to some sort of decal that they thing would look cool, and not make me look like a complete tool, that'd be awesome.
- Which one of these cars will win in a drag race? 2015 dodge challenger hellcat, 2015 ford mustang gt350, or 2015 z06 corvette? Also, which of these three do you prefer driving?
- Is it possible to fit a 347 ford racing engine into a 2004 Mustang? I'm Planning to purchase a 2004 Mustang and plan to put a new motor in it and was wondering if a 347 would fit?
