Warranties for 2013 Ford F150 certified pre owned. HELP1?
A ford dealership in my town is selling a certified preowned 2013 ford f150. It still has 3 years left on the powertrain warranty or 100k miles. They are trying to sell me a premium maintenance warranty 4yr/60k miles for $2050 and a premium care wrap "bumper-bumper extended warranty" 4yr/45k miles for 2050. I've never heard of premium care wrap warranty and they just told me it was a bummer to bumper. Is this to much considering the truck has 64880 miles?
Pass on the extended warranties. The remainder of the factory warranty will cover the drivetrain. The most expensive parts. Extended warranties are where the dealer makes the most money.
Still have 30k plus miles on the warranty so you should be fine. If you're worried about something going after the warranty is up. Some dealers are willing to lower the price of warranties. Ask if they will
" they are trying to sell me a premium maintenance warranty 4yr/60k miles for $2050"
Look at the factory maintenance schedule, and you'll soon come to the realization that they are bending you over on that deal. Basically you're paying $2000 for at most six oil changes and tire rotations. So that's about 6 x $60 or $360 and let's thrown in 3 air filters ($45) and a 3 cabin filters ($60), and two sets of wipers ($60). That's a little over $525 worth of parts/services that you're paying over two grand for.

Again overpriced. Extended warranties rarely pay out more than you pay for them, otherwise they would be a money losing proposition for the dealer. Overall, they are something like 80-85% profit for the dealer vs. What they pay out on average. If you already have the powertrain warranty, I would definitely pass
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
