Why is my Truck Shaking when I accelerate?
Truck model and make
2006 Ford F150 XLT super crew cab
So I've had this truck since august and I have only drove 200 miles on it, yesterday I was out doing errands in it and the engine light popped on and the whole truck started shaking (on highway going 50 MPH) I slowed down pulled off the road and it stopped shaking (about 25mph) then I pulled into a parking spot and it started shaking while idle.
There was an auto zone not to far away so I drove it there and I noticed whenever I accelerated above 45 mph it would shake and when I was at idle it would shake but it wouldn't shake anywhere in between, I got to auto zone and they ran their diagnosis and said It was a misfire in cylinder 3 and that I need to replace the sparkplug and or ignition coil? I just bought 1400$ tires for the damn thing so I don't have money to waste on fixing pointless things I need the actual PROBLEM fixed
Has anyone else had this problem I really need help
Ok, the coil packs (about $47 each) are common failure items, but your fordhas some other particular issues. Especially if it's a triton 5.4L 24 valve engine. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT try to remove this spark plug yourself. Even trained pros hate doing a tune up on this motor because the plugs have a tendancy to break off in the head, and if you don't have the right tools to do this job, you will be towing the truck to a repair center. Take it to a shop! If it's a 4.6, you can replace the plugs/coils yourself no problem. By the way, there will be more of these coil packs failing in the near future, so be prepared. Also, the Ford misfire monitor is notorious for 'coding' the wrong cylinder misfire, and a full diagnostic/scan tool must be used to determine which one is actually having problems. Again, I repeat, if it's a 5.4L, do not do this job yourself. Best of luck.
- Why is my engine shaking during idle at stops and park? I got a ford 1999 taurus SE with 100,000 miles on it. I just changed the spark plugs and wireset out and it got even worse. I was thinking the IAC might of just gone bad but before I go get one I wanted to ask if there was anything else I could test before buying more new stuff for it.
- Car shaking and rattling? I have a 2000 Ford Taurus, it was driving fine until to day. The car just started shaking rattling, kinda sound ed like a lawn mower. Also seems to lose power at times and has trouble shifting gears. (It's an automatic). Of anyone can help that'd be great. Could it be the transmission it perhaps bad motor mounts?
- Why does my 04 Ford Mustang hesitates to accelerate? My car stars up great and the transmission seems to work perfectly. However when I hit the gas, my cars hesitates to speed up. It vibrates to shift gears if I go easy on it. If i go a little hard it pulls back and then makes the shift. I have notice that when it is hesitating to accelerate I can help him by hitting the brake just for a sec and the hit the gas. Note; it has an automatic transmission. Sorry if i did not explain well.
- Why won't my 2006 Ford Fusion accelerate while the a/c is on? My car has 198,000 miles. We had to replace the engine a couple years ago, the replacement engine had 68,000 miles when we put it in. In the past 4 months it has become a nightmare to drive. It WILL NOT accelerate while the a/c is on. What can I do about this? It's driving me insane, Texas heat and a car that I can't drive with the air on sucks!
