Ford F150 grill replacement?

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I want to replace the grill on his truck for him. He hit a turkey on the way home last year and knocked a big hole in the mesh of the grill. This is his truck:

The thing is, the entire grill itself isn't messed up, it's just a small part of the mesh on the grill that has been knocked out.

I found a grill on Craigslist that is perfect but the only problem is that the outlining is gold, not chrome like my boyfriend's truck.

My question is this:

If I buy the replacement grill, is it possible to just replace the mesh, and not the entire grill? I want to keep everything on the truck except for the mesh itself.
