Federal regulations forbid removal of emissions components. Some state regulations do too. Does your state require emissions testing? Then removing the cats would be a bad idea. Of course, there's your computer. It'll go quietly nuts and turn that pesky CEL on.
But no, it's not bad to remove them.

  • What pipe has collapsed on my ford focus 2003? Engine ideal erratic.stalls. Sounds chuggery etc. Found a slight air leak and sucked pipe just under the throttle housing and it goes into the engine just behind the thermostat housing.obs I have goggled to try and find it but to no avail. I'm drawn to believe that its the crankcase breather hose but there's no mention of this or pictures in my car manual. Also there's pictures of different hoses so i'm unsure of the correct one. Any help would be great cheers
  • My husband has a 91 ford f150 4.9L straight 6. It's idleing high like 2000rpm what would cause that? He just replaced the valve cover gasket and changed the oil and filter. Its a manuel transmission and when he started it a back up it idled high. He tried replacing the idle air controller but that didn't help. Any suggestions
  • 2001 Ford f150 and 2001 Ford mustang gt exhaust sound comparison question? Why is it that even though both these vehicles have the same motor in them even with the same aftermarket exhaust the mustang and f150 still sound different? Its the same motor right? Should get the same sound?
