How to put an old school (2nd-3rd gen) dash in a tenth gen 2002 Ford F-150?

I know with enough work, anything is possible. But I'm wondering how much work would be required and just how possible it is. Has anyone ever tried anything similar? Or seen any information they could link me to? I know there will be the obvious, modifying an old dash/interior panels to fit correctly, but how hard would the duct work for the ac be? What options would I have as far as replacing the existing factory steering wheel? Just how much fabrication would it take? Any ideas or suggestions on where I could find a little more info? I like my truck, I like the body style, I can't stand the exceedingly bland, plastic, monotone interior. This idea is not everyone's cup of tea, but an idea worth looking into just out of curiosity.

The gauges in the newer trucks 92-up are electronically driven, they aren't mechanical, you would need to somehow incorporate the harness and electronics to an old gauge cluster and make it operable. I've never seen or heard about anyone doing that. What I would suggest would be to look at custom dashboards that people fab up for street rods and use the aftermarket gauges that they use. I don't think it's going to feasible to retrofit an old dashboard into a newer truck.

Short answer: no. Not without spending thousands of dollars to have custom work done

  • Why do they treat the second and third gen of mustangs as if they weren't there? What I mean is that ford example when the mustang fan page uploads pictures of mustangs they never upload second or third gen mustangs. Then when ford made a mustang trailer for the 2015 mustang they made a time lapse of how mustang evolved. They put in the 1st and 5th gen. In that one they happened to skip the fourth gen for some reason. And when you go on wikipedia to see how many mustangs they've sold they skip from the first gen to the fourth gen.
