How much can an f150 pull/haul?

I was wondering how much an early 90's ford f150 4x4 5 speed 5.0L can pull/haul without stressing it to much.

Depending on your rear end and it being a 4x4 you are looking at 6-7K lbs MAX when new. Now add in 20 yrs or so of life and unknown maintenance and condition. Even in good shape with good brakes and a solid motor and keeping it "safe" I would try anything above 4K. If the truck isn't up to the challenge you are more likely to blow a motor or tranny. If you second guess the brakes you could end up rolling the entire rig.

The M5OD transmission is going to be an issue, it's a light duty transmission with a flimsy clutch. When new it was rated to tow only 3500 pounds at most. The automatic version the same truck was rated for double that weight.

  • Can bald tires make your car pull to the right? In my car Haynes Manuel they say it could be caused by bald tires, alignment, or other things i never hit no curves or anything, ever since my tires got bald on the sides, its been shaking at highway speeds and pulling to the right. My tires are bald on the saides but still have trend in the middle of the tires. I'm getting new tires today and balanced for free, will that be enough to fix my problem? Ford Taurus 1996 GL
