Can my 2002 ford explorer 4x4 v6 pull a 30ft bay liner?

My dad is about to but a 30ft bay liner with trailer and before I buy it i want to make sure it can pull the boat out of the water. I have a 2002 v6 4x4 factory so no mods done at all. I don't kn how much the boat weights.

Check the fords towing specs. Should be in the manual or find online!

You really need to find out how much the boat weighs. That's basically the most important aspect of this, and is something that fundamentally needs to be taken into account.

If the Explorer doesn't have the factory towing package, it can tow 3400 pounds
If it does have the towing package then it can tow a little over 5400 pounds

A 30 foot Bayliner cabin cruiser weighs in at over 9000 pounds dry, not including the trailer. Given that, it would seem that the Explorer would not come close to be able to tow such a boat. Realistically, a 3/4 or 1 ton truck is what you're going to need.

That size boat alone weighs in excess of 10,000 lbs without the trailer. Probably closer to 12,000 lbs. Unfortunately there's no way you'll be pulling that big a boat with your Explorer.

A boat that big you want to step up to f -250 or similar truck or you will find the boat in front of your if you need to stop in a hurry plus it would tax the engine and trans to the max bad ideal
