Trucks (particularly the F-150) are Ford's bread and butter vehicles. They tend to have much higher margins than the typical car. When I sold cars for a living, I sold a customer a 2005 F-250 Harley-Davidson, and even though my GM knocked 10k off the sticker price, I still grossed about $6k on the deal. The dealership made even more than that.
