Does a vehicle have to be insured to sign the title over?

A buddy of mine has a Ford f150 thats in ok shape, but hasn't been started in a few years. He's pretty much willing to give me the truck for nothing. The truck is definetely in realistic condition to fix up, and will definetely be worth it, but I don't have much time and the project will take me awhile. I obviously want to sign the title of the truck to my name, but I believe you need insurance and I don't want to insure a truck that won't be on the road for a year. I live in Pennsylvania by the way, does anyone know if I need insurance for this truck to buy it? I have insurance for my car, but obviously not this truck

You can BUY IT… TITLE IT,… TAKE IT HOME AND REPAIR IT, … THEN, when its ready for the road,… INSURE and PLATE IT… No it don't need insurance to transfer the ownership

A vehicle doesn't have to insured to either buy it or sell it. A vehicle only has to be insured to drive it on the roads

  • Why is my co-signer responsible if they didn't sign the lease i signed without them? I moved into an apartment with my dad in 2014 and live here since. I signed a new lease with no co-signer, but I'm financially poor and can't afford rent. I did receive a letter saying the co-signer would have to pay if I couldnt. I can't let them pay as they are my family and have a family to feed.

  • How to get a title for a classic vehicle with only a bill of sale? Well I just bought a 1968 Ford F100. It has been sitting in a scrap yard since '01. I bought it from Kansas, but you live in Missouri. I got a bill of sale. Is there a way for me to get a title for it? The truck doesn't run. It's a project.
  • Used car dealership doesn't have title there, weird? As a girl, I'm trying to be super paranoid about not being taken average of. I'm looking at a used Ford focus, after.test drive etc, he assured me its a clean non salvage title. I asked if I could see the title to be sure if this. He said he.doesn't have it, some other boss or something does and I have to have a level of trust with him. Do people not normally check the title before buying?
