96 ford 150 engine misfiring?

It's a ford F 150 xl with the 5 litre 302 v8 in it. The problem I'm having is as soon as the engine warms up it starts to sputter and misfire quite bad. And when it's warm and the engines idling in neutral I can like a popping/ knocking sound from one or more of the cylinders. It's also backfiring a lot, thru the tail pipe and air intake. When the motors cold tho no problems. Check engine light stays off too. Any ideas on what it could be?

Read the codes and find out which cylinders are misfiring then diagnose from there

There's short between spark plugs. Replace the spark plugs.

Firing order is 15426378.probably switched wires, usually 7and 8

  • 2000 Ford Ranger Misfiring? I've got a 2000 Ford ranger 3.0 v6 that starting misfiring pretty bad yesterday. I had the code read and it said cylinders 4 and 6 were misfiring. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires about 2 weeks ago and have been driving it everyday with no problems until yesterday. Any ideas on what is causing it to misfire? Should I replace the two wires and plugs again or could it be the ignition coil or what? Any help is appreciated.

  • Will a leveling kit made for a 2009 F-150 fit on a 2008 F-150? I'm trying to buy a leveling kit off of a friend but he has a 2009 F-150. I have a 2008 Limited F-150.Was curious to know if Ford still kept the same spring and shock design from 2008/2009.
