95 F150 didn't start yesterday, but today it did?

My 1995 Ford F150 with the 302 always runs great. But yesterday I got home after playing disc golf. I went inside to take a shower before heading out for the evening. So the truck had been off for about an hour, and it was about 40 degrees outside. I cranked the motor over and it fired a little bit but then stopped. I cranked it again and it wouldn't start. Cranked it for about 20 seconds, wouldn't fire.

This morning I was planning to diagnose the issue, but it started right up like usual.

What the HELL?

Sometimes a car will be difficult to start when it is left for a while when it's hot. The gas evaporates in some part of the system.
I used to have a Cavalier that did that. It started fine from cold, but if it was hot and had been left for about 20 minutes it took a long time to crank up. Several of the guys in my office had the same car because a fleet had sold a bunch of nearly new cars at a great price. One of us phoned the manufacturer and was told "it's a characteristic of that engine". "characteristic" = fault.

Fuel pump is starting to go. If you have dual tanks in that truck when it does it again and it will switch tanks. If you don't have dual tanks when it happens remove the cap on the fuel rail pressure test port and push the valve with you finger, it should spray out gas if the pump is good.
