2001 Ford F-150 4x4 front suspension issues?
My 2001 F-150 4x4 is lifted approximately 6" (all suspension) rolling on 35" tires. When it came time for me to get new tires and an alignment, I realized that my front end components are not in good condition. The tie rods are currently scraping against the frame, and there's 2" of play side to side in each front wheel. The center link/drag link is also rotating a lot, which is not helping the cause. SO… A few questions. First off, would a drag link typically be changed to accommodate a lift kit like the one mentioned? Second, is there a commonly recurring issue with this year range truck and play in the front suspension?
By putting a lift and big tires on it put a lot of added strain on stock frontend parts.
- Vibration/thumping in front suspension. More than likely.drivers front 2002 Ford Sport Trac Vibration/thumping. More speed, the more it vibrates, shakes, and makes the thump thump thump sound. Passenger side mirror shows no sign of movement… Drivers side mirror shakes quite a bit. No noticeable noises other than the thumping. No hard pulling to either side in steering wheel. No difference when braking. Any input would be very much appreciated!
- I have a '99 Ford Ranger with the 4x4 Off Road package. Does this include a heavy duty suspension? It's also a 6cyl 4.0 liter. I need to know because I need to change my rear parking brake cable and it specifies with or without heavy duty suspension. How would I know?
