1993 Ford F150 rear fuel tank not pumping fuel?

1993 Ford F150 rear fuel tank not pumping fuel? - 1

Bad/clogged fuel pump

Check whether the pump draws current.

Could be a bad fuel pump, bad selector switch, bad wiring, bad ground, , etc. Test for good power and ground at rear tank pump wiring… If those are good, then pump is bad. If no ground at orange wire from pump leading to black ground wire, then check ground wiring/connections for looseness, breaks, corrosion, etc. If no power at brown/white wire, then check back through the wiring from the pump to find the fault/break in wiring… Possibly a bad dash selector switch… Or loose/corroded wiring connections, frayed wires, etc… Many times, it's just a bad selector switch from wear but could be other issues.

Wiring diagrams…

Hi a fuel tank is just a space which hold fuel a pump is what pumps fuel out of the tank to the engine injection pump which pumps the fuel into the engine so two pumps. Chances are it is the more expensive one that needs to be replaced the high pressure injector pump.

Pump, lines, or wiring. Could be part of the selector if you have multiple tanks.

The switch is bad

There's many reasons the fuel pump in the rear tank of your F-150 isn't pumping fuel as you first have to use a sethscope to find out if the fuel pumps in both tanks do run as if you can hear the whine of the pumps they do work. The most common failures of the pumps are frayed wiring or a bad selector switch. In most cases to get at the fuel pump wiring the bed has to come off as there's multiple ways such as enlisting several buddies to come over to help you lift the bed off or if you have an engine hoist or gantry crane a bed lifting device would come in handy.

  • Ford F 450, 1997, gas gauge works, but switch won't go the second rear tank? I replaced the switch same thing, only reads front tank and rear tank stays full. I had the solenoid replaced on the frame 15 months ago, could that be bad again, that is over $400? I have two gas tanks, front and rear. Switch won't switch to rear tank? Reads front tank only, even when switched to rear tank. I replaced the switch, cost $62. The rear tank is full, Edith. It is full because I can't access the fuel.
  • Will a 1993 ford f150 tachometer work in a 1996 ford f150? I have a 1996 ford f150 xl v8 automatic without a tachometer. I bought a 1993 instrument cluster with a tachometer. Will it be plug and play in my truck?
  • Rear differential leaking, but not from seal on 2003 ford f150 aluminum driveshaft? I noticed this yesterday, it's barely leaking, however, it's not leaking from the bottom of the seal, it is leaking from where the back face of the u joint(the face that faces the rear diff) and the pinion and it looks like it's coming from a small hole, I don't know why it is leaking fluid, if anyone has any information, that would be nice, thanks
  • How to remove a fuel relief schrader valve on a 1991 ford f150 fuel rail? The top part of the valve broke off when I took it off with a wrench. I put a bolt extractor in and it hasn't worked yet. I just need to unscrew the rest of the schrader valve out of the rail. I think it broke off one time and someone did the easy thing and glued it in
