1988 Ford F150 reserve tank gas needle not working?
I picked up this one as a spare vehicle and it has minimum problems. However, one fuel tank 1 the gas needle works fine but when I turn it off and switch to the reserve tank and start it up the needle goes all the way to the right. As soon as I put it back to tank 1 it works again. Any ideas?
Yep. Needs a new sending unit in the reserve tank.
Either a bad wire connection or faulty sending unit.
- Speedometer needle shaking? My speedometer needle has been wobbling around a lot. Any time I accelerate over about 60 mph it starts shaking. It's an older car, a 94 Ford Taurus. It has a new alternator, starter, battery, and battery cables.
- Gas gauge issues 2001 ford ranger 2wd manual 3.0 engine. 12 gallon gas tank? The gas gauge fluctuates between 3/8 and 7/8 somewhat correlating to the amount of gas in my tank but it isn't accurate. What can i do to try and fix this problem? I'm hoping it isn't the float in the gas tank and would like to cover everything else before i drop my gas tank. additional information will be added as requested Gas gauge problems? 2001 ford ranger with a 3.0 engine manual transmission and a 12 gallon gas tank
- 1996 ford ranger gas gauge not working? Alright… My gas gauge sets right at the top of the E when moving, but when i turn the vehicle off, it will read right under the quarter tank line, than right back to E when it gets turned back on. Would this lean more to the sending unit in the tank or a bad gauge? Fuse is good. Figured i would rather ask before trying either option.
- 88 ford f150 has 2 gas tanks first one quit working now the other has quit? The gas gauge went crazy each time before they stopped working. Is it my fuel pump, and aren't they inside the tanks? How can I tell if thats the problem without having to take it to a mechanic? I'm used to fixing my own cars.
