Would a V6 in a smaller car feel the same to drive as a V8 in a larger & heavier car?

I'm a young driver and I've driven a few V6s before such as a Ford Mustang, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and a Ford Explorer. I want to buy a used Land Rover L3 which is a V8 and i was wondering if the power would be way too much for me. Or would it feel pretty much the same because Land Rovers are much larger and heavier than Mustangs and Suzukis?

I don't know much about cars so your answers are greatly appreciated.

Main result, you use more gas, and break down a lot more (because it's a Land Rover) Power to weight ratios can usually accurately gage performance. A lighter car with less power has less weight to lug around in the first place. If you buy a Land Rover it will break down a great deal.
