Is 215,000 miles too much? Opinions on the Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition are appreciated as well?
I'm looking at buying a 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition and it's in good shape. I haven't test drove it yet. The only down side is the mileage. If it runs good is it ok to buy? And does anyone know anything about the car?
How do you know it's in a "good shape?" Who inspected the vehicle? Have a qualified mechanic put the car on a lift and looked under side?
A car may run fine but it can hide lots of defects.
Generally speaking, cars/trucks with that many miles are not great purchase targets. If you insist on buying it, please consider having it inspected professionally by a mechanic of your choice.
Once the car is on a lift and a mechanic looks at it, it can tell a whole different story than casually driving it.
Its worn out.
215,000 miles on ANY Ford (with the exception of a Super Duty with a Powerstroke Diesel) is entirely too many, ESPECIALLY one from the early 2000's. I would not even consider buying this vehicle, regardless of the price.
Everything on that car is tired. Anything could go at any time.
It's one thing to hang onto an old high mileage car if nothing goes wrong,
It's quite another to buy yourself a heap of potential trouble.
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- Where is the purge valve on 98 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer v6 engine? I have code P0455 and was told its the purge valve. I was quoted $330 to fix it.Im just going to fix it myself.so where is this purge valve? I think my engine is 4.0? I just need to replace this purge valve… Also, is vent control valve the same as a purge valve. Just a different name? I'm clueless, please help me.
- Where is the aux input on the 2006 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer? It has button with aux on it, mute wth a phone symbol under it. It's suppose to be the luxury version so we would think it had an aux input
- Is 160,000 miles too much for a car? It is a 2005 Ford Explorer that a man is trying to sell me for 4,000$ , I'm buying from the app Letgo and it shows he has sold cars in the past. Is this a good deal?
