I have a 2006 ford explorer that has a seal transmission. I need to fill?
If it's SEALED, then how do you know it NEEDS to be filled?
Check the owners manual if the transmission fluid requires replacement. Some are said to have "lifetime fluid".
If a plug on the transmission pan there's a 30 torx bit in the center of it start the engine and remove the plug if it comes out in a steady stream then its full. If not you'll have to find something to fill through that hole ( auto parts store might have something when you buy the fluid ) fill till you get the steady stream. If need anymore help find local shop at ATRA.COM
A seal transmission? Why do you need to fill a tranny? They don't use oil and if the tranny fluid is low you have a leak somewhere that need repairing.
You don't need to add fluid to a transmission unless it has a leak.
If it has a leak, then you need to get it fixed because it will only get bigger and bigger.
If the fluid gets low enough, your transmission will slip and if it slips too many times, it will ruin your transmission and you will need a new transmission which will be very expensive.
Hmm
- Is it normal to have to fill the gas tank of a 2000 ford Taurus se every week? Don't laugh. I'm ignorant about cars and this is my first one. I own a 2000 Taurus station wagon. I drive 6 miles to work and 6 miles back every day and don't drive many other places than that. I live in the city. I'm filling my tank every week and my boyfriend says that's way too much. He says I should replace the spark plugs. Would he be correct?
- What automatic transmission fluid/oil do I need for a Ford Ranger 2006 regular cab? I'm looking around the net, but no luck. My dad is at Walmart trying to find the right one and needs it for his truck.
- Does the oil pan have to be removed to change the rear main seal on a ford 3.0L V6 in a 2000 ford ranger? I have the engine removed from the truck and was swaping in a salvaged engine that all checks out good except for a slight leaking rear main seal. So, after inspecting the rear main seal, it appears as though a could just slide it out and a new one in. Does the oil pan need to be removed? Or can I just carefully remove the old seal and clean the surfaces good and install a new one?
- My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
