How much transmission fluid do I need on a service?
I have a 2003 ford explorer sport trac V6 with automatic transmission. I need to change the fluid but I'm not going to empty the torque converter. If I'm not mistaken it takes 10 quarts to do the whole thing but I just need to know how much just to drop the pan and change the fluid and filter thanks
Check to make sure which transmission you have. Since if you don't have a dipstick you're filling up the transmission through the drain plug on the pan. As far as fluid you're in the 4-5 quart range
ENOUGH TO FILL UP MOST LIKELY
Why don, t you buy the filter and gasket and pick up a case of fluid! Buying the fluid by the case would be cheaper then buying it by the quart, plus you can store the rest away and someday you might need a extra quart!
