Hot air won't turn off in rear of 2006 Ford Explorer?

No matter what I do if the engine is running hot air blows at full force out of the overhead vents in the car. It's miserable for my kids. I closed the vents and tried pushing the off button but it still blows. I turned on the AC but that did nothing. I tried changing temp with the dual setting but it also did nothing. Help please, also I do have a warranty that covers the air conditioning, do you think this will be covered?

The system of controls and doors that opens and closes ductwork to mix heated air with outside or cooled air isn't working… Could be as simple as an underhood vacuum line… As bad as needing a new control "head" on the dash. The Ford dealer would be most familiar with the system - but charge the most. A good independent shop/mechanic can at least look around for disconnected vacuum lines, binding control cables, etc.

I don't know of any new car warranty that would still be in effect after 9 years. And an extended warranty might cover things like the AC compressor, but probably not the controls.

I recommend making an appointment with your local Ford Dealer. Take a gander here to locate one and make an appointment online: http://owner.ford.com/...ateADealer
