Does the 1994 Ford explorer XLT have locking diffs? And what is the low range button for?

Does the 1994 Ford explorer XLT have locking diffs? And what is the low range button for? - 1

I want to know if my 4x4 ford explorer has locking differentials. I also want to know what the low range button is for and what is the proper way to put it in 4x4?

The front diff is open. There was no factory option for a locker or limited slip unit
The rear diff is either open or limited slip. Ford's Trac-loc limited slip diff was a factory option. However most Explorers didn't have it. If you check the rear axle code on the door jamb you can look it up and it'll tell you if you have an open or limited slip diff.

Low range engages the low range reduction gear, it's for low speed, low traction terrain.
