Does nearly every automatic car have kick down button?
I have a Ford Focus 1.6 zetec 2013 powershift, and I don't have the kick down button or cable when I press the accelerator? Is this normal, does every automatic car have that feature including the new ones that are available?
Hi the kick down button was just a mechanical stop to tell you when the transmision was going to change down a gear. Due to the throttle position. Most automatic will change down if the throttle reaches the end of it's stroke. The old kick down button disappeared on most cars back in the 1960's.
i own some 5 fords from 1980 to 1998 none had the kick down button just when the pedal got so far down on it's travel did the car change down. So that idea should be long gone.
Your focus has a kickdown. It takes engine/trans data and deciphers demand from that. Its computer controlled, but its there.
- Why have Mexicans nearly replaced every single white manual laborer? This has happened over past two decades, but really whenever I see anyone who is white doing any type of manual work, I have to take a picture with my camera. As it is like seeing a Tin Lizzy Ford driving down the street or some other type of antique car? Why this has happened? Are they that good of workers? I have seen them laying around on lawns taking a nap. Why?
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
