Pamela, a 1991 Ford Explorer was only designed and engineered to accommodate a 15 inch tire and rim package. There are no 16" or 17" rims that will work without suspension modifications.

There are plenty of very good, and affordable, 15 inch tires available that will serve you well.

The General AltiMAX RT43 is one hell of a tire, for $84 a tire, if you want an all around best bang for the buck tread.

The General Grabber and Firestone Destination LE2 should also be considered if you can afford a bit more and need a bit more heavy duty style of tire.

Yip I had 22 inch on mine

There's no such thing as a good used tire. They all were replaced for a reason. Even if they have tread remaining they were driven and run in on another vehicle. If the used tire isn't put on the same side of the vehicle as they were on the last ride you'll have belt trouble.

If the lug pattern is the same they will fit but be aware your speedometer will be incorrect and torque to drive wheels will change.

There are plenty of new 15 inch tires available. Tirerack alone has about 35 different choices for your vehicle

Used tires are gamble, and not one I'd willingly take. My saftey is more important that the money you save with used tires. If you can't afford quality tires, you can't afford to drive IMHO.

No

Yies they will, but try to match the overall diameter so your speedometer will still be correct. Or remember to apply a correction
