2001 ford explorer sport edition computer modual?
Does anyone know where to find a computer modual on a 01 explorer sport? I need to find me key pad code for keyless entry and everyone says that's where it is. Please be specific
On my 2001, the computer module is located behind the passenger airbag. Lower the glove box completely down and that will give you access to to either 7 or 8 mm bolts. Remove the bolts and the airbag will slide right out. There's a wiring connection on the back side of the airbag that you will need to release if you are working by yourself. I would recommend disconnecting the negative cable on your battery before handling the airbag and always handle the bag gingerly. You can be injured if the bag deploys. Once the bag is removed, there's an ivory (very pale yellow) box in the upper left side of the opening in front of you. That is the computer module. The sticker for my door lock code was on top of this module. It is a 5 digit number and I believe all odd numbers. It should be obvious if the sticker is there.
The code is NOT found on the car's computer. The code is found on your RAP (security) module - to locate it, you might want to visit this link… In the picture, the code is covered by black electrical tape, for that owner's protection.
