Why Is My 2002 Ford Expedition Getting Hot While The AC Is On And I'm In Idle?
I have a 2002 ford expedition I've changed the thermostat, fan clutch, and did a radiator flush and it still is running hot when in idle and running the ac… If I don't have my ac on it runs wonderful as soon as I turn my ac and stop at a light it starts to over heat. Over heating I mean getting to the H and all the lights coming on check engine oil pressure everything… Not sure what else to do can anyone help me out?
Check the RPM when the Ac is on and off.
AC should only effect it slightly. If your RPM is high then there's an issue with AC using too much throttle. Could be compressor not spinning easily and causing the belt to work hard. Make sure you have not to much and not to little freon.
Is there another fan beside the AC radiator? If that's failed the heat from the AC will be heating the regular radiator and preventing it cooling the engine properly when you are stationary.
When you are driving, there's enough air flow through the radiators that the auxiliary fans to not be needed, but when you stop, no air flow, and things get hot.
- Why does my Ford Ranger start rough idle when engine is hot? I have a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 with 4.0 litre SOHC engine, it starts good when cold, but I get a rough idle start when the truck was already used and heated up. Engine diagnostics show nothing, I changed the air filter a month ago, changed platinum plugs and plug wires last year, regular oil and filter changes been done. I'm running out of ideas on the cause of this rough idle. Any suggestions, please answer.
- What RPM should my car idle while driving and what RPM should I shift? I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6. 5 speed manual transmission. This is not the first manual car I've owned, but I'm curious. I never really look but I've read in some places that in order to save gas you should shift at 2 RPM before I used to shift at around 3-3.5 RPM. Also what's a good RPM my car should idle at while I'm in gear? Let's say I'm driving in 3rd gear. What's the ideal RPM to stay at before needing to shift.
- I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
- Why is my engine sluggish when hot for a while? 2003 Ford Focus. When I drive for more than a half hour on a hot day, the engine will be sluggish and misfire while under load. I have checked several components and I suspect that the problem is either the fuel injectors or the spark plug wires.
