What are the odds of a 1999 ford Expedition beating a 2010 Honda civic in a race?
I have a 1999 ford expedition, 5.4L 8Cyl and my friend recently got his 2010 honda civic and says he can beat me in a race. I just want to hear from other peoples prospective, and see if i can beat him. Itll be a half mile race. Many close friends have told me I have a good chance of winning
He would win. The expedition is over 10 secs. 0-60 and the civic (base model) is in the 9 second range if it's an automatic. The civic is newer and about a ton lighter.
Not sure why you're racing a base civic versus a 15 year old 5000lb+ SUV though…
You didn't mention what model of Civic it is. If it's an Si, you'll lose. If it's an LX/EX you might be able to get him off the line, but soon afterwards the dread hand of aerodynamics and the weight of the Expedition will take their toll and you'll probably lose one too. In a 1/2 mile race you're definitely at a disadvantage.
The Expedition actually has around 300HP and a V8 and is geared for off road, towing, and different weather conditions. Also, it has more torque. The Civic is meant to just go around town and on highways while saving fuel. The Civic also has a lot less horsepower and torque. The Expedition would win.
