Time for a COMPLETE coolant system flush.

In an average car, the fluids in the reservoir do not readily mix with the rest of the system. But the density of the power steering fluid is different that your coolant. The best thing to do is to siphon out any fluids in your coolant reservoir, and then do a flush of your whole coolant system and then replace your coolant liquids. It is a fairly easy thing to do, and most car shops will do it for a nominal fee. I would do it now and not wait.

DUMBASS The cooling system now needs to be drained and thoroughly flushed which I'm sure is above your skill level. Have it towed to a shop.

EPIC FAIL.

Empty the overflow reservoir. Fill with water to the Full line. Use the car… The skimming action of the overflow will gradually syphon the fluid into the reservoir. Keep a watch on it - periodically dump out the reservoir and fill with coolant mix to the full line. Continue this process until all the fluid has been skimmed off.

Flush the radiator and block, then refill with the correct antifreeze/water mix.

Ahahhaaa stuff happens and we all have to learn… You really have no choice but to drain the contaminated coolant, flush the system and refill with new coolant. Power-steering fluid is not harmful to the cooling system but you shouldn't leave it in there. Moving forward, identify the location of;
1. Brake fluid reservoir,
2a. Radiator and 2b radiator expansion tank
3. Wash bottle,
4. Power steering fluid reservoir,
5. Oil filler cap
6. Transmission filler/dipstick tube.
All these orifices take specialised fluid. Learn what kind of liquid goes in which hole

Water and oil don't mix, you now have a gluggy mess

Drain it, clean out the radiator & coolant reservoir. Replace the proper fluid.

How in hell do you make that mistake. Get new anti-freeze, drain and flush the system out then refill it with new water and anti-freeze!

  • My 99 ford Taurus has a milky brown fluid in the coolant tank. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? The engine oil is fresh, with no milky color. It is an amber brown. the tranny fluid is pink/red my car will start, however it will not leave park. The gear shift will move but the car will not leave park. someone said it could be my head gasket however the car NEVER ran hot nor did it have any white smoke. ill take any suggestions or help offered.
  • I dropped something into my car's coolant reservoir? I have a 2008 ford mustang. Yesterday there was a coolant level low light on, so I went to my nearest dealership and picked up a gallon of coolant. While pouring the coolant into the reservoir, a piece of foil (the foil seal you break when you buy it) about the size of a quarter fell into my reservoir. After an hour of trying to fish it out and find it, I gave up. Today I tried again but the piece of foil was not there anymore. What should I do?
  • 2001 Ford Mustang. Why is my coolant reservoir always low? I just did a radiator flush myself Nothing is leaking! The AC isn't workin but i think thats a separate problem Anyway i filled up my coolant to nearly max and then a day later it gets low! What is going on? Car isn't overheating either
  • Has the power of Leftist Propaganda made everyone forget that Judge Kavanaugh has been a Champion of Women? Does the Left prefer Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy given they reelected him 7 times in memory of Mary Jo Kopechne? Is it more proof that Hollywood, the Press and the Silicone Valley control the minds of too many? Didn't 75 Women of both Parties come out before Christine Ford to say how they support him?
