Why does 2001 ford escort need 89 octane gas?
Why does 2001 ford escort need 89 octane gas?
Because of the high compression race motor they all have. Anything less and it would detonate under racing conditions.
Older cars used higher octane ratings in line with easy to buy. Emission not a worry and high compression ratios.
use as recommended in owners manual.
- Why does my car rev high all the time and drive without me touching the gas? It revs at stop lights and when sitting idle at drive throughs, and when I'm driving highway speed. It'll rev up to almost 3000 rpms especially in idle. It is a ford Taurus 2005 with 99,700 mi on it.
- Gas gauge issues 2001 ford ranger 2wd manual 3.0 engine. 12 gallon gas tank? The gas gauge fluctuates between 3/8 and 7/8 somewhat correlating to the amount of gas in my tank but it isn't accurate. What can i do to try and fix this problem? I'm hoping it isn't the float in the gas tank and would like to cover everything else before i drop my gas tank. additional information will be added as requested Gas gauge problems? 2001 ford ranger with a 3.0 engine manual transmission and a 12 gallon gas tank
- What fuel octane should I use for 1967 ford mustang? I'm wondering what octane I should use for my 1967 ford mustang. I've heard that the octane difference does nothing but I just want to know what you think because I really care about my car and don't care about the price difference.
- Why does my ford escort run out of gas at a 1/4 of a tank? I own a 1992 ford escort lx 1.9L automatic. When I drive my car it's hard to always keep it filled up being a college student, however, if I let the fuel gauge drop below a 1/4 of a tank all sorta of crazy stuff happens. First of all and most important my car dies! It will sound like it's being starved of gas and bog out. Also if I make right turns then it stalls, I've done a lot of research trying to solve this problem and have come across some stuff but nothing solid.
