Is a ford escort se 1999 a bad car to start off with?

I'm a teenage girl and I don't have a car yet but I have a car that nobody uses in my family and it's a Ford Escort Se 1999 it's in very good shape and hasn't been used a lot the thing is I don't want people to make fun of me for having a old car, do you think it's a bad car to start off with? It does have many problems like it doesn't have a battery and I don't know what else is wrong but there's a lot. So i just hate how you still have to roll the windows down by your hands other than that I love everything. But will people laugh at me for having a older car?

Some people may laugh but some will be jealous that you have a car. But don't worry what others think, just be happy that you have your own ride.

Is a 15 year old Escort reliable? It could be. It could also be a piece of junk. It really depends on how well it has been driven and maintained throughout its life thus far.

The simpler the car, the easier to take care of. It is a good car to start off with. There will be mistakes made on a first car, like forgetting to check fluids. You should always start with a cheap car, just in case.

Reliability will completely depend on how well the individual car has been taken care of. But if everything checks out it will be a good first car to get you through your high school/college years.

Think it would be a great first car and the price is right. Since it is a family vehicle someone must have an idea of what kind of shape it is in. With a car this old, like Motorhead said, simpler is better. IMO the crank windows are a plus. They are decent cars. Any rust issues? This was kinda of a problem with them. As long as any rust issues are cosmetic and not structural you will be OK. As far as what other people think. F$#K Em.
