Car veers to the right while turning right-what could be the problem?

Whenever I turn right--especially at high speeds, the car will veer to the right even further without turning the wheel. It's consistently in the same exact spot. The car's a 1998 Ford Escort. What could be the problem--is it definitely the rack and pinion? If so, does the entire thing need to be replaced?

Why don't you have it checked out first by a technician or by a Ford Dealership? It can be anything but since we can't actually look at the car. Have a shop look at it. Could be an alignment issue, could be something bent, could be something loose, could be tires bad, could be road crown

  • Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.
  • Car won't crank with a new battery and alternator it has no electrical power what could the problem be? I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT that has been running for months when I tried starting it earlier today it would click once then nothing. Now it has no electrical power at all.
  • What could be causing turning lights to not always turn on? I have a 1999 Ford F150, owned it for about a year now, and recently (as in the past week) when I turn the indicator on, sometimes the lights won't flash. When they do work, the dash arrows flash and click like they re supposed to, but when they don't nothing happens. Hazards work fine. Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion as to what needs to be replaced/repaired
  • Car makes a creaking noise while driving, what could be the issue? I have a 2009 Ford Explorer that when I'm driving it makes a creaking noise-the kind of noise if you heard a door or something like that making a similar sound you'd just spray some WD-40 and be good to go. I know the brakes are a possible issue, but the creaking sound is more when I'm actually driving and not braking. Any guesses?
