WOULD YOU BUY A 2003 FORD ESCAPE WItH SUSPENSION ISSUES?
Seller said a mechanic said to slow down while turning corners. It also squeaks when turning right. Is it expensive to get fixed? Car savvy people please offer best advice
I wouldn't if I were you I like a car in good condition no need for mechanic or anything like that.
Mechanic didn't just say "slow down on corners". They said something like "slow down on corners because your shock absorbers and CV joints are stuffed, and it will cost $xxx to fix"
If the car is otherwise in good condition and the price is right, then arrange to take the car to a good mechanic or suspension shop, and pay the $100 to look it over properly, and tell you exactly what's wrong.
They will either say "needs new shocks and a steering tie rod, going to cost $500" If the price is right, then carry on and budget on getting the work done. Ask for $500 off the selling price, unless they are already selling it cheap because they know it needs that work.
Or they say "Chassis seems to be bent from an accident, don't touch it with a barge pole" In that case, you are only out the $100 that you had to pay for the inspection.
We can't psychically diagnose a car over the internet. PAY someone to put the thing on a hoist and actually figure out what's wrong, then make your decision.
Don't believe anything he says. If it was an easy fix he'd have done it.
- What will take you to buy a all electric car. What minimum range would you like? I'm looking at the Detroit car show and gm and ford are really pushing electric and self driving cars. I'm wondering how most people will pay for one of these cars.
- Would a long travel suspension kit built for a Ford Ranger Edge/Sport also fit on a Ranger XLT? I found a long travel suspension kit made for a 2002 ranger edge/sport but I have a XLT same year. Would it still fit on and function the same?
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, superior Ford Ranger? I owned a 2010 Toyota Camry and it broke down in 2011 upon reaching 0.6k miles. I treated it like a baby and it failed and disappointed me. My friend also owned a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and it failed to start in 2009 upon reaching 8k miles. And the mechanic said it was impossible to fix. However, my uncle has a 1965 Ford Falcon with over 750k miles on its clock and it still runs like new and he never even changed its oil since he bought it.
- If you have a judgment against you on your credit report will you still be able to buy a house? Judgment is from 2008 and it's from Ford motor credit on mileage when we turned in a leased vehicle
