Too much oil in transmission can be a problem?

I have a 2002 Ford Escape. I'm having some Trans issues. Someone suggested it could be a prob cause it appears to be too much oil in there. Possible?

Yes! Too much is as bad as not enough when it comes to transmissions.

Very unlikely… Look at the level of the trans fluid on the dip stick… You need to have the trans inspected by several shops for estimates

SOMEONE FILLED TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION OIL INTO IT WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE PROPER FILLING STEP ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANUAL. ITS GASKET WAS RUINED AND LATER ON OIL LEAKING STARTS AT ANY TIME.

Yes, too much can be as bad as too little.
Transmission fluid level must remain below
the moving parts or it will be whipped into foam
which can't be pressurized to lock and release
clutches for holding or changing gears.
Attached is a link for checking fluid.
YouTube has video, but not specifically for 2002 Escape.

Yes, I have seen a few auto transmissions fail due to too much oil. The problem is that people check the level when it is cold (like you would do with an engine) but the fluid level must be checked when the transmission is hot. They check it when cold, see it is low and add some fluid but when it is at operating temp, there's way too much.

It froths, and frothed fluid doesn't pump well.
